Hello
I am still searching a decent Desktop which allows me to have different Wallpapers on different desktops. I seems Xface is the only DT which offers this most important feature natively.
My main OS is at present still Kubuntu 14.04 but as they cut off support coming May or so, I want to be prepared with what I will be using as soon as possible.
Hence I have superinstalled Xfce on a new Kubuntu 18.04 distro. Seems to have gone OK
But now I do have a question, how can I work with all the changements from Kubuntu to Xfce? How to install the different features?
As the installation of both are not elder that about 4 days, and the whole is still in a trial state, I do not mind to erase this Partition and start the installation from scratch. If you think this is best, let me know and possibla refer me to some sources which explain how such a «marriage» function.

Hello
Hello and welcome to the forums.
But now I do have a question, how can I work with all the changements from Kubuntu to Xfce? How to install the different features?
Specifically which features are you referring to? Xfce may have an alternative or you can easily integrate other GTK2/3 apps.

Hello and thnks for your quick reply.
May ideal would be something based on Ubuntu and ressembles KDE neon. But with different Wallpapers on the desktop, and possibly different widgets as well (a boon, but not really necessary).
I am not an afficionado of everything OpenSource, so I am also happy to have installed other apps, especially in the entertaining segment. And for very critical things, I accept even a small payment, like for my printer's drivers.
So, I am open to suggestions
I like to shoot photos and use them on my desktop as wallpapers. Bar a bottom and a vertical bar on the right the desktop is usually total empty and will only be filled when I use it for working.
Ideal, as my monitor has 2600 x 1650 pixels and is about 60 x 40 cm.

Yes it does, thanks very much. Except that the picture is not square but has X = 2600 and Y 1650 pixels.
I reduced the size without changing the ratio down to 1000/ 600px
From my part this is my last posting, we are off for a longish weekend and be back earliest on Saturday (not very likely due to heavy weather on the Ferry, Monday would be more likely.

You are aware, aren't you, that Kubuntu is just Ubuntu with the KDE desktop? Why don't you just replace it with Xubuntu, which is Ubuntu with Xfce?

Any advice in this post is worth exactly what you paid for it.
