Hi,
When I drag and drop a file/directory within a NAS Sharefolder, thunar copies it. For a large directory, that takes hours.
Also, at the end of the operation, thunar doesn't delete the original, so 2 copies will remain.
However, on a local ssd, thunar would move the file/directory as expected.
On a Windows/MacOS machine, drag-n-drop works fine;
On the same Linux machine, Nemo works well. And this behaviour only occurs with thunar.
Is this a bug or designed feature? If the latter, is there a way to change it?
Thank you very much!
Package: thunar 1.6.12-1
OS: Arch

I believe that is a designed feature. Move on the local file system and copy on remote systems.
You can always right-click drag and drop the folder at which point you will be prompted whether to copy or move.

How do you do that?
When I right-click I get a context menu. I do rather like to get a context menu. But how do you get a drag and drop to do a move and not a copy between disks?

You have to move the mouse before the context menu pops up. Right-click move quickly, drag and drop.

That doesn't seem to work for me: right-click and move almost simultaneously, but the context menu pops up in a flash.
I must be getting something simple wrong here.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Try testing with the default Adwaita theme - maybe your GTK theme has a config thats preventing it. To test with the built-in Adwaita theme, run the following command:
xfconf-query -c xsettings -p /Net/ThemeName -s ""
To reset your theme, just go to the Appearance applet and select it again.
