Printers

Can anyone explain how to install network operated printers. That is Epsom WF-2530 and HP. Office Jet 6500, I have a disk for each but OP will not accept the commands.
Although when the system does print it feeds copious pages through the printers but does not print the contents!?
I am relatively new to Linux
thanks

Re: Printers

Xfce doesn't control the printers, Cups does that. It is a part of the system not the desktop. You would be better asking your distro. Many distros have an application system-config-printers to handle printers.

In general HP printers are well supported by cups and in recent distros it should be automatically set up just by running system-config-printers. Support of Epson is varied.

Re: Printers

the traditional way is using cups with device drivers, there is also now a cloud print driver(if your printer supports that)

cups includes a web interface (usually http://localhost:631) for easy configuration

Re: Printers

We have a detailed description in Section 3.1.2 of our Users Manual that might be helpful:

www.mepiscommunity.org/user_manual_mx15/mxum.html

It gives 2 methods, one using system-config-printers and the other the CUPS interface.

MX-23 (based on Debian Stable) with our flagship Xfce 4.18.
