Loosing second workspace / desktop randomly

Hi,
after using Xfce on Xubuntu (now 14.04) I experience a strange problem sometimes for about 4 weeks now. Normally I have two workspaces / desktops, but sometimes within my work and sometimes after a new start the second workspace is gone. I can easily add the second one again with the menu, but it's just annoying. Any hints anyone?
