For your general interest :-) I know quite a few people who are upset at both GNOME3 and Unity having delusions that the desktop should be a phone ... so I posted about my (mostly happy) couple of days' experiences with Xubuntu 11.10, and asked other GNOME3/Unity refugees how they were going with the various simpler desktop replacements:

Could be interesting for feedback from the world :-)
I also notice a lot of serious power users getting annoyed with GNOME3/Unity and going to Xfce. Is there an "intro to Xfce development" to point people at? These are the sort of users who could actually fix anything that annoys them ... could be worth recruiting.
