[Q]editing text for tips and tricks widget?

I want to edit the text in the tips and tricks widget that pops up on desktop when logging in. I know where its located(/usr/share/xfce4/tips/tips) and edit the text in a line but it doesn't display properly. I also noticed a tips.data file that is in that location as well. I tried to open the data file with leafpad but it appears empty. I created a live distro for android development with all the needed tools and want to use the tips widget to inform the user how to use the tools. Can someone please tell me how to edit the text or at least point me in the right direction? It will be much appreciated

The tips'n'tricks window works with the "fortune" command line tool, you will have to look into this.
