Xfce-4.14 & FreeBSD 11.3

I followed the Xfce installation procedure detailed in 5.7.3 of the BSD handbook for Xfce but the installation has failed
I have also loaded the kernel command kload  "/boot/modules/i915kms.ko" into /etc/rc.conf file for my Intel video GUI, but when I use the startx command it repeatedly says it can't find it.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log says "Unable to connect to X server. Connection refused. Cannot run in frame buffer mode. Please specify by ID'S for all frame buffer devices."

Your help would be appreciated.

Thank You.

Re: Xfce-4.14 & FreeBSD 11.3

The Handbook is outdated about installation of Xfce desktop.

With the latest release (4.14) and with your FreeBSD version, it is better to use Xorg drivers (choose xf86-video-ati and fallback mode xf86-video-vesa). With FreeBSD 11.x and 12.x,KMS is too old (otherwise use -CURRENT).
